Hi, I'm Amelia Holderness. I am a senior at the Maret School in Washington DC.

My interest in communication, learning, and inclusion comes from my own experience growing up with dyslexia. I was diagnosed in first grade and spent many years feeling embarrassed about learning differently from my peers. Reading often took me longer, and I was hesitant to talk about the support I received because I worried about the stigma surrounding learning differences. As I got older, however, I began to see that neurodiversity is not something to hide. My experiences taught me the importance of finding different ways to learn, communicate, and express ideas.

Today, I am passionate about neurodiversity advocacy and serve as co-leader of my school's Neurodiversity Affinity Group. Through this work, I help create conversations about learning differences, challenge misconceptions, and support students in embracing the ways they think and learn. My experiences have shaped my interest in how communication tools can make environments more accessible, inclusive, and empowering for all learners.
